Make an Old Stroller Like New With Stroller Detailing

One of the great things about getting a stroller secondhand (or reusing the one in the garage from your previous child) is the huge cost savings.  One of the not-so-great things may be wear and tear wrought by sticky toddlers, an extended stay in a damp garage, or the beating provided by the elements at the beach, on the trails, or during the daily grind.  The higher the savings ($1,000 Bugaboo stroller for $100 at a garage sale, woohoo!), the more likely the need for some TLC.

Luckily, stroller detailing businesses are available to steam clean, remove all of the who knows what (yuck!) that is wrapped up in the wheels, repair and/or replace broken parts, clean and mend upholstery, remove rust and mold, restore tweaked or gnawed on lap bars, and lubricate chassis, breaks, and wheels.

You may also be able to bring in other baby items, like car seats and highchairs, for cleanup.  Some shops (like Stroller Spa, for example) also accept baby gear that is beyond repair to use for parts.

Here are some of the places we’ve found that offer stroller detailing.  If none of these are in your area, try contacting the manufacturer to see if they have a service center in your area that can help spruce up your baby’s ride:

Blue Velvet Full Service Car Wash and Detail Center in Ramsey, MN

CleanBeeBaby mobile service in Los Angeles, CA; Orange County, CA and New York City, NY

Meurice Garment Care in Bronx, Manhasset, and New York City, NY

Rave Fabric Care in Scottsdale, AZ

Stroller Spa in California: San Francisco, East SF Bay, Silicon Valley, Los Gatos, Los Angeles–Manhattan Beach, Orange County, and San Diego. As well as Austin, TX; New York City, NY; Hoboken/Jersey City, NJ; Boston, MA; and Toronto, Canada.

Do you know of a stroller detailing spot that we missed?  Please tell us about it in the comments below and we’ll add it to the list.
