An infant car seat is designed for use from birth to approximately one year. Minimum and maximum weight and height constraints vary by model. An infant car seat can be handy for carrying baby and often includes a detachable base that remains installed in the car so the car seat can be quickly snapped into or out of the car. Some infant car seat manufacturers sell the car seat base separately, allowing users to buy multiple bases to keep installed in various cars. Many strollers offer adapter kits for attaching infant car seats.
