Giveaway and Review: SnoozeShade for Playards

Posted on January 11, 2013

Having a child has given me a new awareness of the difficulty in controlling my environment when I’m on the go.  I was recently planning an overnight trip to visit my grandparents, which led to a conversation with my husband that went like this:

Me: So the guest suite at my grandparents’ [assisted care facility] is booked.  All of the hotels I can find with suites have exorbitant rates.  I’ve seen some better rates in neighboring cities, but I don’t want to drive 20 minutes at nap time because he’ll take a catnap in the car, then wake up when we park and any chance of a real nap will be out the window.

How about this during nap time and bed time (around 7pm): Hotels usually put the sink outside the bathroom.  We can put his Pack N Play in the opposite corner of the room and hang out in the alcove with the sink, with some light from the bathroom.

My Husband: I’m not spending my evenings in the bathroom. (end of conversation)

I’ll spare you the full story of me standing on the furniture in the bedroom of the guest suite at my grandparents’ on a different visit, trying to rig up the sheer window scarf using hair ties (I still don’t understand why the window has a decorative scarf, but no curtains), but I will say that we have been in a variety of situations where we needed a way to give our son a dark sleeping environment without either wanting or being able to darken the entire room.

This is where the SnoozeShade for Playards comes in.  It shares these features with all of the other products in the SnoozeShade line:

  • Made from breathable fabric
  • Blocks 94% of light
  • Blocks visual distractions
  • Provides UPF50 sun protection
  • Keeps out insects
  • Extremely easy to use
  • Machine washable
  • Designed by a mom
The SnoozeShade for Playards has extra zippers and velcro straps for versatility, allowing one of the side panels to be completely open and the top to be half-way open, or completely open when not in full sleep mode (with all panels zipped closed).  As an added bonus, the packaging is reusable, since it’s packaged in its carrying case and the instructions and care information are printed on the back side of the package label.
At $99.99, the SnoozeShade for Playards isn’t cheap, but it can easily pay for itself in time saved from looking for affordable hotel rooms with suites and rigging up on-the-fly window coverings, as well as money saved on lodging that no longer revolves around the ability to create a separate darkened sleeping space for baby, and sleep gained for baby and parents (that, of course, is priceless).

SnoozeShade is generously giving a SnoozeShade for Playards to one lucky reader ($99.99 retail value).  Use the widget below to enter to win!

You can also save 20% and get free shipping with coupon code ENCORE20FS on the SnoozeShade site.
